The importance of religion
In this modern world of the 21st century, people are paying more and more attention to the material and technological development, and starting to forget the value and importance of religion. Some people, just in order to make themselves heard by the world, criticize religions for contradicting the scientific facts, and limiting the power of peoples' mind. They also say that religion retards an economy of a nation, and undermines the educational progress.
I have to admit that none of the things they say is untrue; religion is completely different from the scientific facts, it retards an economy of a country, it may slow academic education down. And most of all, it limits creativity of the human mind. However, religion has the very thing we need in spite of all these negative aspects. It has unique power to make people happy and satisfied.
Who on the earth doesn't need or want happiness and satisfaction? The 21st century, Materially and technologically, is the most advanced century since the dawn of human history, but whether the people of this century is happier than the people of former centuries can't be said certainly. If the materials can give us what we need and long for, then we have enough, at least the rich people have. However, it's clear that wealthy people are not necessarily happier than
ordinary people, which proves that there is something that is important than any sort of external progress or development.
I actually wonder if those people, who criticize religion, have ever thought about why we should have all these external developments. Aren't we trying to do everything in order to make life easier and happier? Do I have to use modern gadgets to be happy? Do you have to fly to be happy? Do you have to use the internet to be happy? No, certainly not. However, I do have some inner qualities to make people around me happy, which consequently makes myself happy. Only religions can enhance such things.
