My Introduction

My name is Rinzin Wangmo. I was born in 1989 near the capital city of Tibet. My birthday is June 6th and now I am 23 years old. I have six family members including myself. I have three brothers and one sister. They all are older than me. I am the youngest and they all look after me very well.

I went to school in Tibet for more than three years but after my mother passed away I couldn't go because two of my brothers were going to school at that time. I left my school because I didn't have any other choice so I stayed with my father for five years.

When I was 16 years old I moved in Lhasa. I worked in different shops and restaurants there. We all know that even if we want to work in a shop or restaurant we need education otherwise it is hard to get a good job. I had this problem.

Later I started to learn English but not for a very long time. Actually, I was interested in learning English but it was quite hard to improve my speaking because we didn't have western teachers and also we only had one English class for one hour every day.

When my aunt knew that I was interested in learning English she told me a lot about India and how I would get a free education. She recommended I study there but at that time I didn't know about our exiled government. I felt very excited to come to India but unfortunately my father and sister didn't agree with me going. I insisted so many times and at last they agreed with me. I had been wondering how I would reach India. Luckily I didn't get many problems on the way compared to those people who walked for two or three months.

After I arrived in Dharamsala I joined the Tibetan Transit School which most people call T.T.S. I studied Tibetan, English and computer science there. Actually. when I arrived at T.T.S. school I had some problems understanding the other students who came from different regions and had different dialects but now I can understand what they are saying because in the school there are students from three regions.

As for me it was a good experience in my exiled life. I also recognized that it was a big society where we can learn different accents and we didn't need to spend extra time on it.

For more than four years I studied as much as I could until I finished my class eight. I finished class eight but I haven't finish studying yet.

In education there is no limit to how much I can learn. It's just like drop in the ocean. There will still be a lot remaining that I don't know or I can learn in the future. We never give up instead we face the challenge of learning English.

I have many hobbies like dancing, singing and announcing. I could enjoy my hobbies at T.T.S. because we had many different activities so I participated in most of them, especially Sing a Song competitions. My hobbies helped me to improve my self confidence because when I first stood up in front of students I felt very nervous after I had many chances to participate in different activities which were related to my hobbies and I was interested in, so I built up my self confidence. Really I am very grateful to my previous school.

E. S. Tibet is my second school since I arrived in India. I have been here for more than one month but I feel I will improve my English and also I hope I will.

Thanking you
