My Introduction
My name is Sertso. I am from Tibet. I was born in Amdo Golok on the 15th of March in 1990. I have five brothers who are all monks and four sisters. All my family is living in Tibet.
My favorite foods that I like to eat are vegetables and fried momo. I am known as the queen of TV programmes because I really enjoy watching movies and wildlife documentaries. The game I like the most is badminton. I am friendly with people and also I like to talk with my friends particularly when they need support and care and are feeling sad. I always want to help people.
When I was in Tibet I went to school for three years. But that school was not very good because it was just a small village school. All the people in my village are uneducated because the adults didn't get a chance to go to school during their childhood. In 2006 I came to India with my family to bless His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We were very happy and enjoyed that time. Actually we stayed together for two months. After that, we went to Nepal and prepared to go back to Tibet.
One day one of my girl friends phoned me and we talked for a long time. She said, "Don't go back to Tibet. There are good schools for studying in India. If you are willing to study and become an educated girl then, you
should stay here and join T,C,V.". I thought for a couple of days. If I stay, then I should ask my family but, I felt very scared. One day I said to one of my brothers, how much I really wanted to stay in India and do my study. "What do you think about it?" I asked him. He advised me lots and helped me to ask my family. Then I told them I did not want to go back to Tibet because I wanted to study hard and to be a good student. They said, "You are small, you really don't know what will happen in your life so, we think, it's better to go home with us. If you stay in India and don't study hard and do bad work then we will feel very sad and also you may regret it". They continually advised me and said, "You know how far it is between India and Tibet so, if you feel sick and don't get good food then we can't come and look after you like now. But we don't say that you are not allowed to stay in India and study yourself .Yes of course, we always appreciate you and if you do study hard, stand on your feet, be successful and have a happy life then, we see no difference whether you stay in India or Tibet. But be careful wherever you go and whatever you do." I was told, that in life we meet various people, some people good and some people bad so to be careful and be friendly with each other. Oh, yes, my family advised me lots. When they were leaving and going to Tibet, I was very sad and cried lots. I was thirteen years old when my family returned to Tibet and I stayed in India.
I am currently learning English and computer skills at Educational Support Tibet school (E.S. Tibet) I have been studying at this school since 11th March 2009, and I can continue my study at this school for two years. I am very happy in this school. The school provides all educational facilities for us. Besides that, the school gives us Rs 450 as pocket money every month to provide for our daily needs such as; pens, toothpaste, toilet paper and so on. I am very grateful to the family who founded this school and to all of the teachers who sincerely share their knowledge.
After few days I came to India from Nepal and joined T.C.V. Suja school. I stayed there for almost five years. And within the five years, I learnt lots of subjects for instance science, social science, Tibetan and math. I put all my energy into study but because of the many subjects I couldn't learn English and achieve my main goal. My ambition is to be an English teacher .Therefore, I changed my school and joined E,S .Tibet this year, 2011. I was very pleaseded to get the opportunity to study at this school. I hope that I will do my best and try to achieve my goal. After finishing two years at E.S.Tibet then I will teach English to people from different generations who didn't get a chance to attend school like I have. That is my dream!
Thanking you
E.S.Tibet Student
